You can become a member by completing a Membership Application. To determine if you are eligible for membership, please review the following description of our field of membership.
Membership Eligibility Information
For eligibility to join a CREDIT UNION, immediate family is defined as a spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent or grandchild, stepparents, stepchildren, stepsiblings, and adopted individuals. Household is defined as persons living in the same residence maintaining a single economic unit. This definition includes any person who is a permanent member of, or participates in, the maintenance of the household.
After an immediate family or household member joins then that person’s immediate family would also be eligible to join. While a CREDIT UNION can adopt a more restrictive definition than the NCUA’s, it cannot establish a more expansive definition. You and members of your family may enjoy all the benefits of Southern Chautauqua FCU membership for life.
When you open your account it is the ideal time to open accounts for your eligible family members. Once your family members join, their family members become eligible as well. Family members are entitled to full membership privileges and retain their Southern Chautauqua FCU membership even in the event your account is closed. If you are not a family member, you may review the defined field of membership above to determine if you are eligible.
